ELECT
Bobbie Jean Anderson

DNC MEMBER
NOVEMBER 13-15, 2009

I have decided to run as a Candidate for the Democratic National Committee(DNC) to fill the vacancy created by the untimely passing of Inola Henry. Inola Henry was a long-time resident of the 48th AD. She was a strong community, labor and Democratic Party activist for more than twenty years. I worked with her closely as she and I both reside in the 48th AD. She was a great mentor and I learned at her feet.

President Obama needs all the support that he can get given the state of the economy, healthcare reform and the Afghanistan. I feel, given my vast experience within the Democratic Party at all level, I can be an effective voice at the National level to support the President’s agenda from the bottom up.

From the President

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Jerome Horton Appointed Member of the California State Board of Equalization

Governor Appointee Jerome Horton was unanimously confirmed to the California State Board of Equalization by the California State Senate on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 and appointed October 5th 2009.

Jerome Horton is the first African American to serve on the State Board of Equalization (BOE) since its inception in=2 01879. He also became the 3rd African American constitutional officer in California's history. The Assembly joined them by overwhelmingly supporting Horton's confirmation. The BOE administers taxes and fees that last year produced $53 billion to provide essential services for the people of California. It employs over 4,000 staff members from auditors to attorneys and has offices throughout the State and in Texas, Chicago and New York. They are also the appellate body for Franchise Tax matters. Eminently qualified for the job, Horton served 21 years with the Board of Equalization as a tax expert. He also served 6 years in the State Assembly and one term as a Inglewood Council Member. "Mr. Horton is very well-prepared for the position of member of the Board," Senator Feinstein said.

"His extensive knowledge and experience clearly make him the most qualified candidate for this position."

Bobbie Jean Anderson Announces Candidacy for DNC

DEAR FRIENDS,
I have decided to run for the Democratic National Committee. As you all may know, our beloved Inola Henry who recently passed away was a long-time member from our 48th Assembly District. It is an honor for me to run, not only in her memory, but to serve to do the work that shewas well noted for doing. I would be honored to have your support. The election will take place at the CDP ExecutiveBoard meeting in San Diego in November. I will be sending more info regarding my qualifications.

". . .because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment, CHANGE has come to America."

-President Elect Barack Obama (11-04-08)
